The Revivalists

The New Orleans music scene has many different genres consisting of many different sub-scenes.  No matter what you may be interested in, New Orleans has got it.  Blues, Traditional, Jazz, Brass Band, Indie, Punk, Metal...it's all here.  Each genre seems to keep to itself, maintaining its own incestuous relationships with its own bands.  Rarely is there any crossover.

The Revivalists are an enigma.  They've managed to develop a unique sound that incorporates a bit of Indie, a little Jam Band, a smidge of Jazz, and a smattering of Pop.  What results is a band that can mix it up with just about anybody on the scene (maybe not metal...hardly anyone fits in with them) and not sound out of place.  Whether opening for Rebirth Brass Band or headlining a night for the New Orleans Indie Rock Collective, they got what it takes to shake the house down.

The band formed in 2007 and have been on a steady rise towards local and national prominence ever since.  I am personal acquaintances with most of the band, and I can attest that they are all class acts who deserve all the success that they have, or will, received.

The band will be rockin' the Howlin Wolf on January 22nd with another up-and-coming group, The New Grass Country Club.

Here's the band last year at the Howlin Wolf:
